For Mothers Only

It doesn't matter if we carried them in our womb or if they came from another's. Motherhood is created through a multitude of circumstances.  This day that is coming up is meant to be a day that champions all mothers.  And while the greeting card companies paint rosy pictures of the epitome of motherhood, most of us, if we are honest, believe in our hearts and souls that we have fallen way short of the mark for achieving any mother of the year awards.

The Heart of Hospitality

For the first thirty years of our marriage our house was like a Motel 6.  I could say a lovely B&B but raising five kids took most of the lovely out of our home, so Motel 6 is a more accurate description. There were always dirty dishes in the sink, always somebody's underwear on the bathroom floor, dried toothpaste in the bathroom sink, bath towels with holes, and ALWAYS at least one child who could not remember to flush. Platitudes and other Nonsense

I strongly object to all things cliché, which in itself is a cliché.  Defined, cliché is an idea or expression that is over-done or old fashioned. Many times, it is a well-intended phrase meant to offer comfort but being on the receiving end of those phrases isn’t always comfortable.
